The week leading up to Christmas we spent a lot of time away from home while our hardwood floors were being stained and refinished. We lived like tourists, eating out, checking out the museums, movies, the mall, etc. It sounds like a lot of fun, and was most of the time, but it is hard to be banned from your home! Once school was out we headed back to Michigan for the week.
We spent a lot of time with family and the kids played with all of their cousins. They also got to help out in Quaker Maid. We also went to Saginaw for the day and visited friends and then I took the kids for a drive around my old campus. They like seeing and hearing about things that we did before they were born...it's cute to see how interested they are. Gabe kept asking me to tell him more stories about college as we drove around.
We had a bunch of Christmas parties at my parents' home. We had a really nice visit and made it back home just in time for some friends to come to our home and spend the weekend. Our kids played and we ate lots! New Year's Eve we spent with Uncle Kareem and Aunt Dina. They made a nice dinner and even had fireworks at midnight.
This morning Gabe and I woke up after 8 and snuck downstairs to start on breakfast. We decided to make all of our favorite things at some point today to start the New Year out right. We made the following:Gabe's favorite : Apple Cake
Joseph's favorite : Baked Eggs
Grace's favorite : Bacon
My favorite : Popcorn
Gabe & Grace's favorite : Cinnamon Swirl Bread
We worked all of that off by undecorating the outside of the house and cleaning all of the windows inside and out. It's a fresh start for 2013.
