Pillows and More

Last week a friend of mine asked me to help her freshen up and redesign her formal living room, entryway, and dining room. Together we made a few trips to Home Depot, Ikea, Home Goods, Target, Joann Fabric, TJMaxx, West Elm, and more to pick up a few things and do a lot of "window shopping."
When I was out on my own I kept my camera handy and took pictures of things that would look nice in the room and showed them to her later and then she made the final purchases. It has been a lot of work but a very fun collaborative effort. I'll have pictures soon, but for now I'll share a few of the projects we've worked on for her house.
We picked out fabric at Joann Fabric and I made four of these black and white pillows for the room. We also picked out a nicely textured black fabric for an additional 3 pillows. And we chose a soft pink for an accent color-I still have to sew those though. She had this coffee table in her basement, but it was damaged and needed some work. I used my new orbital sander, a Christmas gift from my mom, and I sanded it completely down and restained it, distressed it with nails, screws, and a hammer, and then finished it off with a protective coat of poly.Grace even got into the fun and helped me stain and paint a few accessories we picked out. More on those later!I even freshened up our couches with some fabric we had that was not going to be used. I was able to make two large pillows and a small little accent pillow with the salvage leftover from my friends' house project.
We still have a little more work to do on her house, but the most time consuming part is finished, now we just have to finish the art/photos for the walls and place all of the accessories in the room. I'll try to take a few pictures this week or next week to share with you.
