Gabe had quite the birthday bash this year...only fitting since it was his "Golden Birthday." A little known milestone when your age is the same as the day you were born...December 6th = 6 years old. This year we had a small birthday party with his closest friends. It was terrific since the kids are old enough to be dropped off now and it felt much more casual than years past.
Joseph and I took the kids out in the garage and I had all sorts of games set up and we had a lot of fun being silly with them. Gabe opted for an Ice Cream Sundae bar instead of a cake for the party. It turned out to be a huge hit...his friends loved it and were still talking about it 3 days later when we saw them on our way to school. We ended the evening by opening gifts, hitting his pinata, and playing balloon darts with the neighbors. It was a lot of fun.
Then on Tuesday, his real birthday, we took Gabe to the movies and picked up Chinese food - his absolute favorite. I surprised him with a robot cake I had made and a few Angry Bird cupcakes I made from the extras. 
Gabe was thrilled with all his birthday fun and I was so glad he enjoyed his birthday and loved every present he received. He hypes it up all year long and dreams up things for months and months, so I wanted to make it special for him. It feels like he won't be little for much longer so I want to make the most of it!
